Some Antiviruses read the client as a False positive and don't allow it to run or even sometimes removes it.
Many people always suggest to remove them, these are some of the most common Antiviruses that cause these issues.
If you don't want to uninstall your antivirus to fix this issue, I suggest you try this.

This is an error that MANY people have gotten, and I haven't gotten around to make a tutorial on fixing it so here it is. I don't know if anybody has already come up with this, I kind of just came up with it while messing around with Norton for a fix. Sorry about the ending on both videos, it got messed up and I was unable to fix it, I tried recording several different times, but it just kept happening. I will be explaining what to do on that part below each of the videos[/B]
.

Norton:

1) Open Norton settings.
2) Click on the "Configure" button to the right of the text "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence Detection".
3) Click on Add and locate your MidNightMS or folder containing your MidNightMS client.
4) Apply, close your Norton windows, open up your Client folder and right click on MidNightMS.exe.
5) Go down to "Norton File Insight" and make sure the button on the lower right says "Don't Trust", this just means that the file is trusted. You're done.

Norton 360:

1) Open Norton 360 Settings.
2) Click on Antivirus on the top left.
3) Go to Scans and Risks.
4) Click on the "Configure" button to the right of the text "Items to Exclude from Auto-Protect, SONAR and Download Intelligence Detection".
5) Click on Add and locate your MidNightMS or folder containing your MidNightMS client.
6) Apply, close your Norton windows, open up your Client folder and right click on MidNightMS.exe.
7) Go down to "Norton File Insight" and make sure the button on the lower right says "Don't Trust", this just means that the file is trusted. You're done.
Cool Run MidNightMS.exe

Malwarebytes

1) Open up Malwarebytes.
2) Go to the "Ignore List" tab.
3) Click 'Add..'
4) Go to Computer > Local Disk (C: )
5) Scroll down a bit and select 'Nexon' then go to 'MapleStory'
6) Scroll down until you find 'MidNightMS'
7) Select 'MidNightMS' and exit Malwarebytes.
Cool Start up the game and play! Have fun!

WebRoot:

I don't have a video for this since the fix is really simply, although if anyone thinks there should be a video please say so below. To be honest I don't think it's necessary at all though:

Simply remove it from your Quarantine which can be located in PC Security and it should automatically add it to exceptions.
If that doesn't work then turn off the Firewall and the Realtime Shield which can be found in the Firewall and Shields tabs under PC Security.

Credits:

carlos for Norton, Norton 360, and Webroot.
Goddess for Malwarebytes video and instructions.

Please PM or post below if you know any other AVs that cause issues.
This was copied and pasted with some minor changes from one of my own threads somewhere else.
Why am I posting this here if this issue hasn't been reported yet?
Just in case it does.
